I met Vicki Hamilton in 2010.  I was turning 50 and decided to take a trip to Europe on my own.  My mentor, Robin Hopper, suggested that I take a course with Tony Clennell and that I needed to travel more – especially to Europe.  So, I started making plans and then I got nervous about traveling on my own.  Tony was wonderful.  He introduced me to Vicki, who speaks Italian, fluently.  She met me at the Florence airport.  Vicki has been a potter for more than 40 years and always a teacher.  She helped me reserve a room in a pensionne and move around Florence for several days.  Then, we headed via train to Certaldo and La Meridiana where our class was to be held.  We had a wonderful three weeks.  I met several wonderful people who I continue to call friend.  This bowl is from my collection.  Vicki made it after coming home from Italy and the handles are her salute to Tony Clennell with his style of handles.  Just looking at pictures from Italy makes me itchy to travel.  hmmmmm.
