A Bowl A Day – Love of the Swamps – Steven Hill

I met Steven about 10 years ago in a glaze course instructed by Robin Hopper at Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts (MISSA, for short).  If you ever have a chance to attend adult camp, this is one worthwhile school.  You work hard, learning new skills and seeing lots of great art, plus you meet many wonderfully talented artists.  But I digress.

Steven is known for his layers of glaze creating wonderful patterns of colors.  I remember him telling us that he loves the swamps of Southeastern United States and also the colors you see in Tuscany, Italy.  We worked hard in the glaze course one night, I had head phones on listening to music.  I was so involved in mixing glaze tests that I didn’t know I had started singing.  Steven laughed so hard hearing me.  Needless to say, I was embarrassed.  But, later, I found out that he loves music and has written a few songs himself.   Adding one of Steven’s pots to your collection, will bring you many years of enjoyment. I promise.
