Did you know that Surrealists based their artistic explorations on Freud’s psychoanalysis?

The Dali Museum Exhibit with Rene Magritte

I visited the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg today. So, glad that we traveled up here. I discovered that I prefer Salvador Dali’s artwork over Rene Magritte. It was interesting to view their paintings side by side. Each artist wrestled with reality and experimented with different styles throughout their artistic lives. I found it interesting that Dali felt that Jackson Pollack’s paintings lacked soul and it sent him into a period of creating art focused on religion and mysticism.
