First Friday’s are always fun! We host live music in the gallery and usually have an artist talk.

Terry O’Brien playing music

This past Friday, we hosted Terry O’Brien who plays a lovely saxophone. I learned that he is related to Michael Drost, another well known local jazz musician. We will hire him again to play. Many people came in off the street exclaiming that they heard his lovely music down the block and had to investigate.

Many friends who have purchased artwork from us in the past and new visitors to C2C joined us on Friday evening. We very much appreciate their visits and love (support) for the arts.

Tonya Rund, Laura Crabtree-Hollenbeck, and I had a nice “chat” about their artwork, their work life, and being a creative person. We had lots of laughs and learned a bit about one another’s artistic lives. A takeaway from the evening was that both of these artists love what they make. Both women work daily on their art striving to make the best new painting or sculpture compared to what they have made in the past. A constant struggle and joy by artists.

Sarah and Julie helped throughout the evening. I am very grateful for these two. We make a great team.
