Lee S Brown – Artist at Work
When I first opened C2C Gallery, we tried many different marketing ideas. One of the ideas that I think still has a lot of potential is the “Artist at Work” Series. Several local artists were good sports and worked for several hours either outside of our original location or inside depending on the weather. Jack Hillman, Julie Sanford, Shaun Williams, and Lee Brown, each packed up their tools, set up at the Piano Factory, worked in front of the public for several hours. They were very generous with their time and materials. I might resurrect these Work Sessions this summer. Have to think a bit more about that…..
Lee is one of those artists who can listen to a client, draw his ideas, adjust with regard to their desires, and then build what he designed. Lee found a stash of 100 year old pine in the Whitehall, Michigan area many years ago. He has made several contemporary tables with this wood. Very solid, many layers of wax and polyurethane. Contemporary, Metal legs. Lee sent me a picture from several years ago moving this wood.
And here are the tables……
A banister that he made for our new location……
Artist at Work……
Lee is a huge supporter of the arts in West Michigan. Currently, he is working at the Muskegon Museum of Art and in his studio on Muskegon Lake.
