More than three years ago, Lori Reed and her husband visited C2C Gallery. We talked they left and returned again. We talked some more. Ultimately, we discussed an exhibit of Lori’s artwork. It would be the first of its kind in our gallery.
Lori lives in Illinois but LOVES Michigan. Everything about our great lakes, woodlands, and hiking trails. We hosted her artwork in 2017 and love having her again this summer through late September.
She is an Illinois artist who has spent most of her adult life as a graphic designer. This artist has been making mixed media collages for the last 15 years and uses photos as the basis of her work since 2009.Nature inspires Lori in her work and her daily life. This designer creates mixed media wall hangings using multiple digitally altered photographs with handmade papers; found antique accounting ledgers; shredded $1000 bills from the Federal reserve; antique maps; newsprints; colored pencils; and acrylic paint.
Lori has been exhibiting her artwork since 2006 in group or two-person shows. She’s had her work accepted into national juried shows in Illinois, Iowa, New York and Colorado. She was awarded the Purchase Prize in GALEX 44 in 2010, so her piece “More Than Merely Ourselves” is in the permanent collection of the Galesburg Civic Art Center. In 2011, Lori received an Honorable Mention prize in the Open Small Works show of the National Association of Women Artists Gallery in New York, New York for her artwork “Impressions”.
