Description
Handmade Ceramic Serving Bowl | Lake Michigan Sand
Made for gathering around the table.
This one-of-a-kind porcelain serving bowl is inspired by the movement of water and sand along the Lake Michigan shoreline. I carved the exterior by hand to create lines that suggest waves moving across the beach, then incorporated Lake Michigan beach sand into the glaze. The sand leaves behind the small variations in color and texture that make the surface worth looking at closely.
The softly irregular rim and hand-worked surface are reminders that this bowl was made one at a time, by hand.
And it is meant to be used.
Fill it with a generous salad, pasta, fruit, or your favorite dish and place it in the center of the table. When it isn’t being used for serving, the texture and simple white glaze allow it to stand beautifully on its own.
A piece of Lake Michigan for the table—and for the gatherings that happen around it.
