Lake Michigan Ceramic Serving Tray

A handmade ceramic serving tray inspired by the movement of water and sand along the Lake Michigan shoreline.

On the exterior, I create wave-like textures that remind me of the patterns left behind as water moves across the sand. My Lake Michigan beach sand glaze settles over the textured surface, adding small variations in color and texture.

The inside is finished with a creamy white glaze. I like the simplicity of the interior and the way the soft, neutral color works easily with different surroundings.

At 16 inches long, this is a versatile piece. Use it in the kitchen or on the dining table for fruit, bread, appetizers, or other favorite foods. It can also move beyond the table—holding rolled hand towels and everyday items in a bathroom, or keys, sunglasses, and the things you gather near the door.

I like making pieces that don’t need to have just one purpose. This tray can move from room to room and become part of everyday life.
