Quiet Gathering
Some of my favorite conversations happen around a table.
This handmade ceramic serving bowl was inspired by the quiet colors and changing textures of the Lake Michigan shoreline. Layers of soft cream and blue echo water moving across the sand, while a band of my Lake Michigan sand glaze around the rim adds texture and depth. The interior of the bowl is finished with a smooth cream glaze, creating a food-safe surface that’s well suited for everyday use.
I designed this bowl to be used often. Fill it with a fresh summer salad, warm bread, roasted vegetables, or fruit. Over time, I hope it becomes part of family dinners, celebrations with friends, and the simple moments shared around the table.
Each bowl is made one at a time in my Grand Haven, Michigan studio. Look closely and you’ll notice a small window impressed into the seam where the form comes together. It’s one of those quiet details that often goes unnoticed until someone takes the time to look.
