Shoreline Evening
Some evenings along Lake Michigan make me stop and look a little longer.
Shoreline Evening is part of my Shoreline Light Series, a collection inspired by the changing light, water, and sand along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
A warm orange sun sits above layers of water and sand, while small birds move across the sky. Blue-gray marks and repeating textures suggest the movement of waves along the shore. Lake Michigan sand incorporated into the surface adds another connection to the place that inspired the piece.
As you turn the mug in your hands, the surface changes. The sun and birds give way to quieter areas of color, line, and texture—much like the shoreline itself changes as I walk along the water.
Made to be held and used, this mug brings a small piece of my daily experience along Lake Michigan into an everyday object.
