Shoreline Light Mug – Orange | Lake Michigan Ceramics

This handmade porcelain mug is part of my Shoreline Light Series, inspired by the changing colors, textures, and small details I notice along Lake Michigan.

A warm orange glaze fills the interior and wraps around the upper portion of the mug. On the front, an orange sun and a few simple seagulls bring the Lake Michigan landscape into the piece. The creamy, textured surface below incorporates Lake Michigan sand, connecting the mug directly to the shoreline that inspires my work.

The slightly taller, narrower form gives this mug a different feel in the hand from others in the series. A hand-rolled coil finishes the rim, while subtle marks and textures remain visible across the surface. A few small seagull tracks on the bottom offer one more shoreline detail to discover.

Each mug is individually made by Cyndi Casemier in Grand Haven, Michigan.
