Description
Shoreline Light VI
This mug is part of the Shoreline Light series, a group of forms that explore how light moves across the surface of water and sand along Lake Michigan.
This version is slightly taller than earlier mugs in the series. That added height changes how it feels in the hand—more space, more presence, while still fitting comfortably as you hold it. It works well for tea, coffee, or something slower at the end of the day.
The surface moves from a rust and orange tone into deeper blues, similar to the shift of light as the sun lowers toward the horizon. It’s not a literal sunset, but that transition is there.
Across the lower portion, you’ll find etched lines that echo the marks left behind in the sand as water moves in and out. The glaze in this area includes Lake Michigan beach sand, bringing subtle texture and variation to the surface.
The handle is handbuilt and shaped to sit naturally in the hand. It carries its own movement—color shifting through blues and warmer tones, with small raised textures that catch light as you turn the piece.
This is the same form used throughout the Shoreline Light series, allowing the differences in surface, color, and texture to carry the variation from one mug to the next.
This is one of the taller forms in the Shoreline Light series, offering a bit more volume while maintaining a comfortable feel in the hand.
The mug pictured is the exact piece you will receive. It is dishwasher safe.
