Every day along Lake Michigan begins a little differently.

Some mornings the lake is calm, reflecting a soft blue sky. Other days, towering cumulus clouds gather on the horizon as light filters across the water and textured sand below.

Time Passages II is inspired by those changing moments. The upper portion of the vase reflects the shifting blues of sky and water, while the textured lower surface incorporates Lake Michigan beach sand, recalling the patterns visible beneath the shallow water along the shoreline. A small hand-formed orange tile represents the warmth of the rising or setting sun, becoming a quiet focal point within the landscape.

The phrase “Time Passages” is stamped and altered into the clay as a reminder that no two days along the shore are ever the same. Wind, water, light, and time continually reshape the landscape, offering something new to discover with each walk.

Hand built from porcelain and finished with layered glazes and Lake Michigan beach sand, each vase is one of a kind. Designed to hold flowers or stand alone as a sculptural object, it brings a quiet reminder of the shoreline into the home.
