Relationships, Connections, and Contradictions

Relationships, Connections, and Contradictions

The Racine Art Museum is hosting an exhibition of Sergei Isupov.  Sergei is a Russian clay artist who now lives in Massachusetts.   I have seen Sergei’s work six times in person.   His imagery amazing.  Sergei is a ceramic artist but also a painter.  His work is eerie, dream-like, shocking at times, and  very thought provoking.  When seen in person, you walk around it, examining all sides, trying to decide to what you think about the sculpture.  Many times his faces, have an other worldly glow.  As you can tell, I am in awe of his techniques and skills as an artist.  Isupov’s exhibit will be at the Milwaukee museum through the first week of June.  Maybe, a ferry ride across Lake Michigan is in order.

The two images below were taken in Seattle at a show.  I don’t remember the name of the piece but its back is as interesting as its front.

Check out the other 4 ceramic shows on the Museum’s website.  I am drooling and wishing I could be in Milwaukee this week.  Sigh……….C2.
