Studio and Gallery Life: 80, A New Maker Found

Studio:

How are you doing?  I am loving the sunny days here in West Michigan and cool nights.  I am getting ready for the Art in the Yard show this weekend. Please look at my new page focused on my beach vessels.   A percentage of each sale is donated to the Grand Haven Area Public Schools.  A worthy cause.  Here are pictures of some of the ceramic pieces that I will have at this sale:

Gallery:

I did take a wander around West Michigan this past week with a friend.  We had fun visiting Saugatuck and Douglas.  Lunch at the Butler, then over to the Douglas galleries.  We found the J. Petter Gallery very inviting.  They offered us espressos to enjoy while we wandered.  Did you know that they now sell glass and ceramics besides paintings?  We also visited Water Street Gallery  and the Button Gallery .  You will find Mark Chatterley sculptures and Ronna Alexander encaustic paintings at the Button Gallery.

Unique Gift Idea:

I always enjoy finding a new maker, whether they make glass, paintings, jewelry, sculpture, soap, and even brooms. Recently, I discovered this broom maker, George Jones Jr.  He lives in Alabama and makes the most beautiful brooms.  I am thinking of gifts this Holiday season.  He makes Cake Tester Brooms.  These have short handles.  You hang them in your kitchen. Break off one of the broomcorns and test your cake for doneness.  A unique gift for your friend who loves to bake.

I am working on a more balanced life with exercise, fun, time with friends, and work.  I am back on track again with working out and Tai Chi.  Did you know that our Senior Center offers a variety of classes?  If you don’t live here, check out a center by you.  I was impressed with the class varieties.  My sister invited me to play pickle ball last week.  We had a lot of laughs.  Plus, I am taking a private lesson this week.  I am working at getting better.  I laugh at myself a lot.

Many of you have been customers of mine since 2011.  I am very grateful.  You have seen the gallery and my clay work evolve. Over the years, I have offered a wide variety of art to you.  We also hosted nights where we offered classes, wine tastings, and talked about skincare.  I continue to be a consultant for Rodan and Fields.  If you are finding your skin a bit dull, let’s talk.  In 2018, I discovered Scout and Cellar. Sarah Shadonix, a fiesty Texas attorney was tired of getting headaches from drinking wine.  She realized that she woke up ready for her day when she consumed wine from outside of the USA.  Another discovery was that it was the things added to the wines to help them be shelf ready for sale was what caused her headaches: sugars and chemicals.  Scout and Cellar offers organic, clean-crafted wines.  Soon to offer coffee, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar.  If you try to eat organic food and worry about the chemicals that you might consume.  Please consider looking at these products.  For this year’s Holiday Season, they will be offering gift boxes ready to help you with your gifting needs.

Take good care, Cyndi

P.S.  I hope to see you October 15 between 5-8pm.
