Studio, Life and Gallery: 48, Artist Girlfriends

How are you? I can’t believe another week has flown by.

What would we do without girlfriends? Especially, friends who are artists.  I would miss the conversations.  We talk about the state of the world; food, recipes, and restaurants enjoyed; studio practice, art and business; family issues; exercise and health; clothing that we should let go and what fits now.

One is an engineer but was unable to join us.  Their life experiences have taught me so much over the years.  I will be forever grateful for their friendship.  We visited a new clay center, Red Heat Clay,  where you can take classes.  It was a fabulous facility!   These two women reviewed my artist list for the “100 Cup Invitational”.  They made several suggestions of clay artists that I had forgotten.  We took the time to search the Internet and skimmed several art books.  Next March, we are going to have a wonderful selection of drinking vessels in West Michigan.

I hope this gives you a taste of Tulsa.  It’s an interesting city with a lively downtown and other areas.  We didn’t get to the art museum sadly.  We had too much fun hanging out and talking.  It did take two days to get home.  American Airlines was having trouble with staffing.  Long story short – the employees that were working had great attitudes.  They did what they could with a smile.  I appreciate it.

How are you doing with exercise and the cooler days?  I am back in a gym three days a week.  I do walk Leo, my puppy, about three times a day too.  One of his favorite walks is in a city park called, Duncan Woods.  We walk trails and he so desperately wants to say hello to all children and squirrels.  As we walk, I am reminded why I am a clay artist.  I love the textures and lines of trees, bark, roots, and fungi.
