Vases and Parking Garages? What do they have in common?
I can remember visiting Chicago as a child with my parents. The many lanes of traffic, Lakeshore Drive along Lake Michigan, tall buildings with wonderful display windows, bridges, and huge parking structures. Earlier this summer, I made a series of vases that remind me of the parking garages that are iconic in Chicago.
Architect Bertrand Goldberg incorporated a 19-story ramped parking garage at the base of each residential tower. These parking garages are just one of the many iconic buildings that helped build Chicago’s architectural legacy.
