Shoreline Layers II | Lake Michigan Ceramic Bowl
This Lake Michigan ceramic bowl is part of my handmade porcelain work shaped by the light, sand, and shifting textures of the shoreline here in Grand Haven.
The interior surface reflects the layered patterns that appear along the water’s edge—bands of sand, subtle tones, and the quiet movement of water across the beach. A soft blue band circles the rim, recalling the horizon where lake and sky meet.
Across the interior, fine markings move like wind patterns across wet sand, while small circular impressions suggest the quiet rhythm of waves touching the shoreline.
The darker exterior surface carries a speckled texture that echoes the deeper tones of wet shoreline sand.
At 11 inches in diameter and 3 inches tall, the bowl sits comfortably as a serving vessel or as a quiet centerpiece. The broad interior allows the layered glaze and subtle markings to catch changing light throughout the day.
The result is a vessel that carries the feeling of the lakeshore—sand shifting beneath water, layers revealed by waves, and the steady rhythm of Lake Michigan shaping the shoreline.
Each piece is hand built and one of a kind.
The bowl pictured here is the exact piece that will arrive at your door.
