Description
Lake Michigan Sculptural Ceramic Bowl with Beach Sand | Shoreline Structure Bowl
This is a one-of-a-kind bowl that moves beyond function and into structure.
It began the same way as the others—with time along the shoreline—but this piece holds more of what I notice about how the landscape is shaped and contained. Retaining walls. Old docks. The way materials are placed to hold back water, knowing it will continue to move anyway.
The form is hand built and altered. It’s larger, more present. It sits differently on a surface—less like a serving piece and more like something that defines a space.
The interior is quiet and open. The exterior carries more weight. You’ll see and feel Lake Michigan beach sand in the glaze, along with inclusions that break the surface slightly. These aren’t imperfections—they’re part of the piece. They reflect what happens along the shoreline where natural and built elements meet.
There is a small constructed opening with metal elements embedded into the form. That detail comes directly from what I see at the water’s edge—structures holding, shifting, weathering over time. It’s a subtle reference, but it changes how the piece is read.
This bowl can be used, but it also stands on its own. It works as a centerpiece, an anchor on a table, or a piece that holds attention in a room.
Each piece is one of a kind.
The bowl shown here is the exact piece you will receive.
